Enter working order rather than screen order
Write each sequence in the order you intend to work it. The first right-handed row is drawn from right to left, and later rows alternate direction. Left-handed reading mirrors that order. The stored sequence does not reverse when you change the layout; the view determines where each indexed symbol appears. Use the position controls or select a symbol in the preview to confirm its place.
Circular charts place successive rounds farther from the center, with symbols facing outward. Right-handed reading is counterclockwise and left-handed reading is clockwise. The start seam leaves room for round numbers, starting-chain annotations and joining marks. Spacing is schematic: the radius is chosen for readability, not as a prediction of the fabric’s physical size.
Make chain counting a deliberate setting
Starting chains are separate from working ch codes. An uncounted starting chain supplies an annotation without changing the ledger. A counted starting chain represents one working stitch and occupies the first available base position, regardless of how many chain loops are drawn. That is the model’s declared convention; particular patterns may organize their starts differently.
A working ch in the sequence creates one new unit without consuming a previous base. The checker highlights that choice because it cannot decide whether a later instruction will use each chain, a whole chain space or another attachment. A joining annotation is also different from a working slst: the annotation does not add a new unit.
Review each row after structural edits
Duplicating a row is a convenient way to build a repeat, but the copied sequence can be wrong after an increase or decrease changed the available total. Moving or deleting a row also changes the base count seen by the following row. Review the live ledger after every structural edit.
Keep a saved project before exploring a different construction. Undo restores the last twenty applied chart changes, while reset restores the chart from the current initial result. The editable project JSON is the durable copy; the tool does not automatically save a hidden online or browser-storage version.
